My Special Friend Explanation.

A special friend is someone who understands you if you’re going through rough times and who is always there for you. My special friend is Jazmine because we do everything together and if we're angry or grumpy at each other we still have each others back no matter what. She is my special friend because she stands up for me and she accepts me for who I am.
I.P.I.O
What is a special friend?

A good special friend is someone who you can rely on and who is trustworthy to you that has a unique personality. Special friends are people who you can count on to be there for you through rough times and have their shoulder for you to lean on. They could have fun with you and be there right by your side to comfort you no matter what.

Who is my special friend?

My special friend is Jazmine because she has a unique personality. She sticks up for me no matter what. She is a funny person with a lot of potential. She is a type of person who has princess problems and wants to be perfrect which I accept her for that.

Why is Jazmine my special friend

Jazmine is my special friend because we go through everything together no matter what we are never ever alone. She is a person who is trustworthy and reliable because she is a good person to share your feelings with. If you’re feeling down she can cheer you up because she has a personality that is One of a kind.

Who does you friend make you feel?

My special friend always makes me feel happy, excited and enthusiastic because whenever I’m feeling down she is always there to keep me company, and make me feel proud of who I am. Jazmine is an important friend to me because she is a sister to me that I can tell and share anything about.

Conclusion:

Why are special friends important and how would your life change without a special friend?

Special friends are important to me because if I didn’t have a friend my life would be different with no one by my side. I can trust Jazmine with all my heart because she is there for me at all times. I don’t have to change for anyone because they should accept me for who I am not for who they want me to be.

This is my special friend explanation. My special friend is Jazmine because she accepts me for who I am not for who other people around me want me to be. Jazmine is my special friend because we both like the same things together and when ever I'm feeling down she is alwyas right there to stand up for me. Although she can be a little annoying at times we still treat each other with respect and have each other right by our sides.

Collabrative Paragraph

Asmah, Kapri, Samantha & Dontailan worked collabritively together. We used most of the words that we use for our topic this term that is called Space. We came up with this impressive paragraph that we are very pleased with!

The sun is the center of our Solar System. We live on the third planet away from the sun called Earth. Over time as the universe has been going through phases of change, scientists have sent astronauts on space rockets for the idea of space exploration expedition. Research shows, that we have eight planets in our galaxy and more than a billion stars. It takes twelve hours  for the Earth to orbit the sun on its axis, giving us daytime. Stars are luminous points in the night sky made of gas called hydrogen and helium which expand when gravitational energy compresses them. Did you know that when we join stars together it forms a shape in the sky called constellations? Have you ever been told that during daytime the suns rays scatters across the atmosphere causing us to have a blue sky. As the Earth orbits the sun on its axis, the moon is the satellite of the Earth. As the astronaut is up in space they use technology such as space probes to gather information about the environment around them, so scientists can use the information to get a better understanding of our aging universe.

Road Trip Challenge.

L.I. Add distances in km
Work out the differences between distances

Kahlista and Jharda’e have planned a road trip around the north island for the Christmas holidays.

They plan to travel to:
Auckland - Rotorua =  219 km
Rotorua - Tauranga = 65 km
Tauranga - Gisborne = 287 km
Gisborne - Napier = 215 km
Napier - Wellington = 315km
Wellington - Taupo = 371 km

Taupo - Auckland = 269 km

This is my work that Mrs Anderson had set for us to do. It includes maths because we have to figure out how long these people travel and how far they go to travel to that certain place.

Nationality Poster

This is my poster about all the Nationalities there are in Room 9. The top 2 is Maori and followed by Tonga.

Matariki Poster

This is my Matariki poster that we did for Matariki. It is a celebration about the 7 stars. The word matariki stands for tiny eyes or eyes of god.

This is my comment to Asmah about her fantastic work that she did. It really amazed me and she was really focused and on task. Keep up the good work Asmah.

Migration Task.

Our task was to explain in our own words why people migrate to NZ. The skill we were practising was to find evidence to support our thinking. My little explanation is based on economic reasons for why people migrate to NZ.

HIstorical Recount about the Voyaging Waka

Onboard, my responsibility was to cater food for the pāhihi. This was a huge responsibility being that food was scarce. I prepared for the long voyage by gathering foods such as kumara, sugar cane and green coconuts. Ika was another option of food if meals were not available at times. Being that all wahine who were wise with food had tamariki, I filled the position of becoming the Kuki Rangatira. I would be abandoning my ngā mātua, although other wahine would shelter and provide for their family, I was turning the other cheek, looking forward to the journey ahead of me.

The departure from Hawaiki was sorrowful, yet exciting. The water was crystal clear, passengers had seen dolphins and whales, and the Kaihī were having a good streak of luck on catching ika. Our surroundings were dead silence but with a twist, we were able to hear the screams of the wind 20 paces away. From then we knew, the days of excitement had ended.

After the Kaihī had caught ika, the waves were unkind. All the pāhihi aboard the waka were not informed that the Kahihi hadn’t blessed the ika and sent a grateful prayer to Tangaroa. Because of this, wahine and tamariki aboard were feeling sea sick. For two days, all pāhihi were frustrated with the Kaihī, but when the waves had calmed down we carried on with our journey.

After five days aboard the waka, I began to question myself if finding new land was possible. I had heard all the myths about other travellers and their waka’s crashing into the seabed. We were aboard with the best Tahuna and Kāpene, yet we couldn’t find land. There were no surroundings, no ika, no food and no hope.

Quicker than the blink of an eye, a tamaiti had climbed up on the sails. Before the wahine could warn them to come down, the Tahuna howled out. “ Whakamoemiti atua kua kitea e matou i te whenua hou ” Within a second, laughter and song filled the empty ocean. The waka slowly slithered onto the sand and all paihi had ran out of the shelter and stretched. The hou whenua  was unfamiliar but felt comfortable.

The journey was dangerous and took more days than expected but in the end, finding hou whenua was worth it.

Space Jump Show

This morning, the junior classes and the year 7 and 8’s went to go and see a show called Space Jump in the school hall. The actors were Ty and Naomi, they played the role of 2 characters each. It was all about an alien that took hold of a girl’s body. The alien came down to earth for a specific reason, and it was to find out facts about fiction books using its  imagination and creativity. My favourite book was the Boring Book, because it has scientific words that I could hardly pronounce but would like to, and it had real awesome pictures. There was a special message saying if you can't read the words in the book use the pictures or get someone to read it with you. To me it seemed like a really fun show to watch because the characters were very enthusiastic and motivated to get started. We thank both Naomi and Ty for coming to our school and performing a real good show. This was a big privilege for all students who participated from Panmure Bridge School.

Facebook Explanation

Why is Facebook a problem?

Have you ever thought about facebook being a problem?  Research shows facebook is becoming a major problem because once you bully a person on facebook it’s hard to stop the rumors. Just imagine what could happen to that person.Your actions could lead to a sad situation. There wouldn’t be anyone to mock because they’re gone.

Have you ever thought about the fact that accepting anonymous people can lead to inviting them into your personal life. Think about statuses you put on facebook, at first it could be really funny but then turn into something really serious, and thats where cyberbullying kicks in.

Did you know that up to 250 million people go on to facebook a day and waste the majority of their education spending their time on Facebook. Going on facebook everyday could affect your learning and grades will start to drop because of the lack of focus.

Facebook is a problem because it could lead to a bullying situation. There are rumors about people going around, it causes people to believe its true.

Global Warming Story

We need to slow global warming down because it is effecting the animals who can't face the climates that are happening. We can also slow global warming down by not cutting down a lot of trees. Have you ever wondered what type of chemicals you have put in the drain going to the sea leading extinction for all the living species in the sea. If you were an aquatic animal, would you like it if you were getting pulled out of the sea for dinner? I certainly wouldn't. Also think about all the other creatures out there.

All About Bias

Bias affects the way we look at things.Bias is like a person who has two personalities. One personality is subjective which means that you let your prior knowledge help you make your decision, and the other personality is objective which means that you don't let your prior knowledge become your judgement. An example of using both sides of Bias personality is in the fairy tale of the Three Little Pigs. Objective: I strongly believe that the wolf did nothing wrong. He just sneezed and 2 houses fell. Well thats not the wolfs fault that they built their house with poor equipment. Subjective: I am very guilty I really believe that I am. I think that I should’ve not have put the boiling hot water down in the chimney so that the wolf can suffer, but overall it was the wolf’s decision to climb down the chimney. We really should have thought first so that he wouldn’t be boiled alive.

This is all about Bias. I used the PEE chain to help me with this activity.

My Blog Explanation

Why my blog is unique

Explanation

Are you aware your blog is like an online history album of your work which everyone around the globe can see.

When we publish our work it goes on to our individual blogs. People can comment on your work and give you feedback and feedforward. Doing that gives them the opportunity to take a screenshot of their comments and post them onto their own individual blog.

Did you know that you can learn anywhere at any time with anyone at any place? You can upload photos that tell a story about your holidays or write a recount that tells what you have been doing.

You can create your own work online which you did individually or collaboratively with a partner, and you can share it with a global audience.

There are many blogs in our cluster and each and one of them is different because each one is a personal website which can be accessed anytime and anywhere.
